CHARACTER NAME: Helen
SERIES: Claymore | Helen
CANON POINT: Post-Chapter 126, after the defeat of the Organization
AGE: Unknown. Claymores are known to practically live forever, unless they're murdered or become Awakened Beings. Helen physically looks to be in her early 20s.
APPEARANCE:
Helen and her current outfit

Helen is a fairly tall lady, standing at 5'8”. Like other Claymores, her hair is pale blonde, worn short in a bob, and her eyes are silver. Because of her nature as half-yoma and half-human, she is split up the middle from her neck to her mons pubis. The wound never heals, since this is where the yoma flesh had been inserted into her body. It's held together by what appears to be rudimentary sutures. It should be much of a problem of her intestines falling out or terrifying people because she's usually covered up.

PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY: n/a

PERSONALITY:
Helen is hot-blooded. That's the first thing anyone will notice about her. She's loud, obnoxious, and she doesn't really like rules if it means a good fight. She's quick to jump into the action without really thinking about it. When her and Deneve travel south to go check out their hometowns, she's warned off by Dietrich about there being demons in the area. Despite this, she insists on continuing. When they find the Abyssal One, Isley, she insists on checking him out. She has no sense of how dangerous things can be until it's too late, and even then she doesn't really know how to give up. When Isley begins engaging them in battle, despite the fact that Helen realizes she's out of her league and is going to end up being killed by him, she doesn't even try to run. She simply fights. This is a real problem for Helen, as most Claymore are usually much more reserved than she is.

Because of this passion, Helen is far more expressive than her friends. She laughs more, is easily irritated, quick to rouse. She's the more optimistic one of the group. Her passions, her loyalties, it all comes down her belief in tasting life. Enjoying it. That's the rush she gets from jumping headfirst into battles. Helen also has a tendency to eat more than other Claymore and allow herself to get drunk. Because of her anatomy, she doesn't need to eat often and can filter toxins like alcohol out of her system. Despite this, she snacks a lot and doesn't filter her blood. A lot of the time, she does this out of a need to cope. She even claims that she is much like the male warriors of the first generation, who were so unable to control their passions and appetites that they welcomed becoming Awakened Beings. So her taste for life is a double-edged sword for her. It both makes her more human and also pushes her closer to the edge of losing her humanity.

She's also loud and rude and doesn't hesitate to insult someone she think is lesser than her. Because of the way that the Organization sets up the warriors, ranking is important to Helen. She respects power. Before the War in the North, she wielded her number around like a badge of honor. For example, when she learns that Clare is Number 47—the lowest ranking warrior—Helen's attitude toward her becomes abrasive and dismissive. Clare is clearly beneath her and also a liability on an Awakened Hunt. She's going to get in their way. In fact, she even says that it's like they're “leading her to her death”. She makes the same assumptions with both Clarice and Dietrich on a number of occasions. However, despite her persona as somewhat of a bully, once Helen is proven wrong on a person's skills, she does come to respect and even trust her fellow warriors.

In fact, Helen is incredibly loyal to her friends and fellow warriors—even after she's abandoned the Organization. Regardless of her life being on the line, Helen stands her ground. This happens quite a number of times. When Deneve tells her to run when they're engaging Isley, Helen blows her off and tells her that they started this together, and they're going to finish this together. Her relationship with Deneve is powerful. They're from the same generation and have been friends since training. Now that they've left the Organization, Helen is rarely away from Deneve's side. She'd rather die with her than live on without her. Another example of Helen's loyalty is when she insists on bringing back the mass blob that contains not only the creature more powerful than the Abyssal Ones but also Clare. She refuses to leave it behind, despite the dangers, because Clare is in there, too. And they have to save Clare.

ABILITIES:
Enhanced Strength and Speed: Because of the yoma flesh and blood that was inserted into her as a child, Helen is stronger than the average human. Much stronger. She has to be strong enough to swing her sword one-handedly and also to fight off the yoma. She's also faster than the average human.

Immortality: In the sense that, if she doesn't take an outright fatal blow, Helen would continue existing without fear of death or aging. However, she can be killed if her vital organs were taken out entirely. Or her head.

Accelerated Healing: Thanks to her yoki (demonic energy that she relies on for her abilities) Helen is able to heal herself from most severe injuries that would kill a human, which includes reattaching limbs that have been lopped off and regenerating things sights as eyes/sight. However, since Helen is an Offensive type warrior, her healing only goes so far. She cannot regenerate her limbs if they are ruined and can't be reattached, and she cannot regenerate whole organs if, say, there was a hole punched in her middle.

Yoki Suppression: Due to her seven years in the north and the need for secrecy, Helen is able to hide her yoki so completely that other Claymores and even most yoma can't detect her presence. It's how her and the other six ghosts kept their existence a secret for all that time.

Filtering Toxins: Claymore bodies being what they are, they're able to filter toxins such as alcohol, illnesses, and probably even poisons out of their system. They also have the ability to absorb these things if they choose (Helen likes to get drunk).

Food, What Food: Another fun thing about Claymore anatomy is that Helen has very little need for food, water, and sleep. While she's more likely than her fellow warriors to indulged on things like food, she doesn't need a large amount to survive. The same goes for sleep. She could get a couple of hours a week and be perfectly fine.

Weather Impervious: Helen is pretty much good with any sort of intense weather situations, not particularly feeling any intense cold or heat.

Heightened Senses: Basically, Helen can see, smell, etc. better than your average human, since she's half-demon and all. She's also probably going to detect some supernatural vibes happening, but that goes along with her yoki senses.

Extendable Limbs: Helen's special ability is that her limbs, particularly her arms, can become like rubber and stretch out. Think Stretch Armstrong. She uses this to do more long range attacks when others are unable to get in close.

Extendable Drill Sword: This is a technique Helen developed during her seven years of exile, based on another warrior's Drill Sword. She can twist her arm to a maximum of 55 rotations and either use the momentum of the attack to drill through her opponent or extend her arm for a long distance attack.

Half-Awakening: Helen is one of few Claymore who have half-Awakened and was able to come back, which is apparently a thing that is Not Common in their world. You either Awaken or you don't. Because of this, Helen is slightly more able to exceed the normal amount of yoki energy release than the average Claymore. She's also at more risk to becoming a horrible, gut-eating monster. So. You know. A curse and a blessing.

Yoki: The demonic energy that fuels Claymores, Yoma, and Awakened Beings. Tapping into this, Helen can do the above things. Releasing her yoki energy also has some effects on her. At 10%, her eyes change from silver to gold and become slitted like a cat. At 40%, her face begins to change with her mouth cracking and teeth elongating and becoming more fang-like, as well as her veins popping out, muscles getting bigger. 80% is supposed to be the point of no-return, but it's more than likely that Helen could be pulled back if she hasn't gone too far.

POSSESSIONS:
-Her black armor, as seen above

JOURNAL ENTRY SAMPLE:
Oi. [The video feed shakes a bit, so any image of the blonde woman is blurred at the moment. Mostly because Helen's, you know. Shaking the device. It settles down after another few shakes.] This damn thing on or what? [Now that the video is calm again, it's easy enough to see the look of irritation on her face, silver eyes narrowed.]

I've never been on a boat before. Well, not yet. [Because they were going to take a boat back to Rabona. Is this the boat? Did they take a wrong turn somewhere?] Gotta say, it's not something I think I'll be doing again. [A pause, and then she flashes a toothy smirk.] Who wants to be helpful and tell me where I can get a beer and some food around this place?

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:
They'd done it.

If Helen had been human—well, completely human—she'd probably be panting, covered in sweat. Actually, she'd probably be dead, because what humans could fight Awakened Beings like they just did?

The point was, they had done it. They had stopped two out of three of the Awakened Beings at least, but more importantly, they'd toppled the Organization. She follows behind Deneve and Miria, uncharacteristically quiet for the first time in a long time. It was down to them to find any of the Organization's men still left hanging around, but the halls were empty. Their footsteps echoed along the stone walls, and still, they found nothing.

She felt a twinge of disappointment. If there had been any human that she ever wanted to hurt, to put her hands on, to use her sword on, it was one of them. For stealing their lives, regardless if they were alive or not. For forcing this on them for nothing more than an experiment.

Maybe that was for the best, though, now that she thought about it, silver eyes darting toward Deneve, as if worried her friend might actually be able to read her mind or her emotions.

Because if she started with just one, who could say that she would actually stop? And she couldn't put that on them to have to take care of her if she couldn't come back. It wouldn't be right.
